SPS SEAL TRACE is a patented tracer for working with sealing PCBs. The tracer is specially designed to test the tightness and effectiveness of a PCB seal*. This way, you can always test if the PCB seal works, even many years after it was applied.
Renovation of PCB can be associated with a great uncertainty about whether the effect and outcome of the individual measures have been satisfactory and safe in relation to health hazards. With the SPS SEAL TRACE tracer, you can test the effectiveness of the PCB sealing at any time, even many years after the sealing has been carried out.
The tracer substance is applied before the actual sealing, and because SEAL TRACE has the same diffusion properties as PCB and a boiling point similar to the light PCB congeners/types of PCB, the tracer substance will have the same conditions for penetrating a sealed surface as the PCB that has been sealed. The tracer substance does not exist in a similar form in nature, and therefore it can be concluded with certainty that a detection of the tracer substance in the air will stem from a leakage in the sealing – which means that the sealing will also allow diffusion of PCB.
The unique composition of SPS SEAL TRACE allows it to be easily identified by the GC.MC method in the event of its occurrence, in the same way as PCB. It is even possible to measure SPS Seal Trace at the same time as measuring PCB in the air.
*The tracer substance can only be used to prove the sealing ability on the surface where the tracer substance and the sealant have been applied.
