PCB Forsegling, Radonsikring og Asbest Forsegling | TWO Teknik
SPS Radon Block is a grease membrane that can effectively retain radon in floor constructions, and more. SPS Radon Block is environmentally friendly and contains no epoxy or harmful substances, so it can also be used by everyone. The product can be applied with a brush and roller and hardens in just 24 hours.
SPS Radon Block adheres to all mineral and painted surfaces and is compatible with other building materials such as paint and tile adhesive. Read more about radon sealing below.
Radon is a noble gas that is formed when gas from the underground passes through layers of radium in the Earth’s crust. Radon is an element in the periodic table with atomic number 86 and symbol Rn. Radon is a very heavy gas, and therefore concentrations are highest at ground level and in places like basements. This makes it particularly dangerous, as we spend many hours each day in the same low-lying place, namely in bed. This means that while we sleep, we inhale and are exposed to the radioactive gas for many hours – which is why radon is also called “The silent killer”.
Especially in houses and buildings with basements, contamination can be a major problem. It is believed that in Denmark alone, more than 350 people die each year from cancer caused by radon. The danger is also many times higher in smokers than in non-smokers.
Radon is present everywhere in Denmark (and the world), but is particularly common in regions with rocky subsoil, as radon can pass more easily through such subsoil than if the subsoil was very clayey. Especially in Eastern Denmark, high concentrations are measured due to the rocky subsoil.
All new construction must be radon-proofed according to the new building regulations BR10, so that concentrations in indoor air do not exceed 100 Bq/m3. In SBI guideline no. 223 (which can be downloaded and purchased here), guidelines are provided on how to construct the building envelope in new construction.

Radon protection with SPS Radon Block can be used as effective protection both in new and old buildings. In new construction, sealing can be used as an extra radon protection before laying wooden floors. If high levels of radon are detected in the house, most wooden floors can be removed, sealed, and then the floors can be laid again.
In most new construction, the building envelope is designed so that radon is diverted around the house’s foundation and out into the open air. However, this membrane can be leaky due to cracks, so it is important to measure radon levels in the house.
In older and historic buildings, radon was not taken into account in the same way as in new construction. Particularly in properties with basements, cases with highly elevated concentrations are observed. In such cases, sealing with SPS Radon Block can be an effective method for stopping the gas and thereby creating a radon-free indoor climate.
All of our products in the SPS series, including SPS Radon Block, contain no toxic ingredients or epoxy. This means that anyone can work with our products and that, for example, a house or a basement that needs to be radon-proofed does not have to be sealed off while the work is being done. SPS Radon Block, like our other products, is based on silicon and does not release any hazardous vapors, either during application or afterwards when the sealing has been completed.
We perform sealing for both private and commercial customers, and also offer direct sales of the sealing product SPS Radon Block.

Call or write to TWO Teknik if you are in doubt. We are happy to provide advice and guidance and can refer you to several of the country’s leading advisers in the field.
SPS Radon Block can 100% seal for radon if there are no other access routes other than through the floor. At the same time as radon is secured, moisture is also sealed, as SPS Radon Block is not diffusion open.
If there are already issues with moisture, this must always be taken into consideration before sealing. We are always available to provide advice and guidance, and can refer you to experienced consultants in the field – throughout the country.
Sealing for radon with SPS Radon Block is a permanent solution and does not need to be redone unless the sealant wears off. This provides peace of mind and assurance that the problem has been addressed for many years to come.
Choosing a sealing solution with SPS Radon Block means choosing an option that is both economical, manageable, environmentally friendly, and time-effective, compared to other similar solutions on the market. We offer both radon sealing services as a main or subcontractor, as well as the sale of SPS Radon Block.
SPS Radon Block is also very suitable for sealing of e.g. walls and ceilings, and can be both tinted (in standard colors) and then painted over.
The SPS Primær series is a Danish product specifically developed for sealing harmful substances in building materials. The sealing products do not contain any harmful or toxic substances.
Our sealing products are among the most used sealers on the Danish market and have been tested and further developed over the past 10 years.
SPS Radon Block has a documented effective ability to retain radon gas in building materials. We continuously test the product and will release new documentation of the product in the fall/winter of 2018.
All professionals can work with the SPS Radon Block sealer from TWO Teknik, as it, like the other products in the SPS series, does not require an epoxy course or a special certificate, other than thorough instruction which we provide.
The radon sealant from TWO Teknik, SPS Radon Block, adheres to most surfaces and allows for further work after only 24 hours of curing time. SPS Radon Block can be painted over with most quality paints, and tile adhesive also adheres to the sealant.
The sealant is initially supplied as transparent but can be tinted to desired base colors.
SPS Radon Block can be applied with a roller, brush or spray, depending on the task at hand. The correct layer thickness is a minimum of 150 micrometers, which can be easily checked afterwards with the included layer thickness tool.
The sealing products from TWO Teknik are among the world’s best products for sealing health hazardous substances in building materials. They are extremely effective and no other sealing products offer as flexible options as the SPS series. At the same time, the products are among the most advanced with the world’s only winter sealer, a patented tracer Seal Trace, and the many application possibilities offered by the products.
The product series is also environmentally friendly and very easy to work with, allowing for quick further work due to its short curing time of only 24 hours.
At TWO Teknik, all our products have undergone independent investigations, tests, and analyses. SPS Radon Block has been tested by MH Rådgivende Ingeniør ApS and DMR A/S, both of which concluded that the product effectively stops radon. Our PCB sealers have been tested by, among others, Associate Professor John Mortensen from Roskilde University and Dansk Miljøanalyse. The tests show that SPS Primær and Primær Vinter are particularly suitable for sealing PCB and demonstrate barrier properties of over 95%. Dansk Miljøanalyse has also tested the tracer substance SPS Seal Trace, which can be used for radon sealing.
When we chose to work with silicates as the basis for our sealing products, it is partly because of the silicates’ natural formation of an extremely tight “network” or “film”, and partly because silicates do not contain any toxic or harmful substances. The SPS products form a tighter network than most other sealing products because the silicates in the series form many more internal connections during curing, and can also create a chemical connection to materials such as concrete. This means that the sealant is not just “glued” to the surface, but actually makes contact with the surface material, providing a much stronger and more durable seal.
Never use untested and undocumented products for sealing. Be aware that the encapsulation products you use for your project are thoroughly tested and their effectiveness is well-documented by specialists.

The time varies, of course, relative to the size of the task, but normally a house or a basement can be sealed within a few days.
SPS Radon Block cures in just 24 hours and also allows for further work such as painting within 24 hours.
The price of a radon sealing task varies depending on the preparation work, area size, transportation, etc. The price for the radon sealing alone starts from 350 DKK excluding VAT per square meter and decreases with the amount of area.
The sealant works immediately, and after 24 hours, it will have hardened and stopped any diffusion of radon.
SPS Radon Block does not require an epoxy course or any special certification. Therefore, in principle, anyone can work with the sealing product. However, we recommend that the work be carried out by skilled professionals, such as painters, contractors, etc.
Yes - SPS Radon Block can be painted over (with quality paints) and treated with tile adhesive. However, it is important to always perform tests beforehand to ensure proper adhesion, etc.
SPS Radon Block does not have a specific expiration date. The product is not a paint or adhesive product and does not suffer from adhesive fatigue or fade like paint. As long as the seal is intact and cohesive, the seal will effectively stop radon.
